My name is  Maya McGeathey, I’m the parent of a second grade student who attends a Philadelphia Public School. I am writing about my concerns regarding the reopening of the Philadelphia public schools during this Pandemic.I believe it is still unsafe to put our children in the buildings.As we all know, they are very old and have poor or little ventilation. The ventilation that the district is offering is unacceptable, not just for the students, but for the staff as well. They are expected to wear mask all day, except when eating or on break in areas that may or may not have quality air. There are photographs of fans being circulated as the ventilation that will be provided in the classrooms. 

Another concern I have with the reopening of our schools is the availability of vaccination for staff. I am aware that the vaccine will be available sometime in the near future for others than first responders' and the elderly. When will they actually be in place for our teachers and staff who care for our children?

Please reconsider reopening schools until it is more safe for everyone. We all want what’s best for the children, but not at the risk of their lives or the lives of others.
