The Metroblok Data Center won City Council approval on Monday evening.

Data centers are a permitted use under the city’s zoning for this location. Therefore, denial could have resulted in a lawsuit regarding the petitioner’s property rights which the city would have lost. State law regulates data centers with environmental protections and the use of electricity.

The Metroblok data center should not be compared with the mega sites that are being created elsewhere.
