We have an important update — and some good news.

At the Town Board meeting this week, the Town of Wawarsing WITHDREW the proposed local law that would have fast-tracked the 182-unit Wawarsing Estates development.

The public hearing has also been canceled.

This happened after many residents spoke up and raised concerns about:

– The size of the project
– Environmental and flood risks
– Lack of proper review
– Concerns about how the process was handled
– And the impact on our community

This is a big win.

The Town Board did the right thing.

Now we need to make sure the Planning Board does the same:

There is still a site plan from 2006 that was recently brought back, even though it was approved under outdated rules.

We believe any development on this site should follow current laws, full environmental review, and real community input.
