Say No to the proposed Wallaroo Solar panel and battery farm

Say No to the proposed Wallaroo Solar panel and battery farm
The issue
There is a significant solar panel and battery storage farm under planning consideration on the Wallaroo property which is adjacent to MacGregor, Dunlop and Charnwood Suburbs of the ACT. This proposed site is directly adjacent to this suburbs and the Ginnenderra Creek flows through here into the Murrumbidgee River - part of a significant catchment. The distance from the site to the suburbs is in some places less than 500m from residents comprising mainly of young families and retirees.
The proposal has been under consideration since 2020 and is it only now in July 2022 that the developer, who is in a JV with a Spanish Company (not even sovereign owned), has come forward with the aim to start building in 2022.
The social and hazard impact to residents has not been quantified in terms of the impacts of reflection from the panels, latent heat build up in the are giving rise to increased significant storm activity, the hazard of having toxic battery systems adjacent in in the predominant wind flow back onto residential areas, and the social impact of having a 292 Ha eyesore right in the middle of what is one of the pristine views into the Brindabella Mountains and adjoining ranges.
There are numerous areas to the West and South of these ranges which would present a viable alternative to this proposed development which would impact far fewer people and present a significant hazard reduction to the highly popular suburbs of Dunlop, MacGregor and Charnwood. I would also ask then why do we need this is the Snowy 2.0 is Australia's Battery?
Renewable energy is a necessary part of our future, but care and consideration must me made as to where these sites are established. Also we should be wary of offshore opportunists who are leveraging upon Australia's climate commitment for their own gain.
Please sign this petition to close down this proposed development.
