Kids in school need their cell phones for safety, allowing them to communicate to parents or guardians during emergencies. Kids feel safer in school having direct access to reach out to parents in school as well. Disconnecting students from their phones takes away the whole point of owning their own cell phone. There are many great uses for them but there are also negatives which is why use of them should be left to teacher discretion to ensure they enhance learning rather than become a distraction in the classroom.
