Say No to the Apex Data Centre in South Norfolk
The Issue
The Norwich Green Party stands in absolute opposition to the current proposal for the Apex Data Centre and calls on decision-makers to reject the application.
Sign this petition and send a clear message that this development must be considered alongside the urgent need to use our energy resources responsibly and protect our local environment. Developments of this scale must deliver genuine lasting benefits, not only for our local community, but for ordinary people across the country.
Why do you oppose these plans?
- The proposed electricity demand of 150MW could power almost 500,000 homes, around seven times the number of homes in the whole of Norwich.
- In stark contrast to this huge demand on resources, the current proposal is expected to create only 100–150 local jobs and deliver some road improvements.
- There are also concerns about the impacts of the development on water consumption, heat generation, biodiversity on Marston Marsh and air pollution.

The proposed Apex data centre will be opposite Harford Bridge Tesco on Ipswich Road.
What is a data centre?
Data centres are large facilities that house computer servers and are needed to store, process and transmit digital information. Data centres are important. However, the scale of this data centre means its environmental impact is enormous.
What happens next?
Every signature helps us drive the message home that the people of Norfolk do not want this data centre. but we need to be ready when the planning application comes into South Norfolk.
