Bromley Council Planning Portal Priory Gardens Warehouse
If you care about Priory Gardens, please object to Planning Application 25/05351/FPA.
The proposed development is not a like-for-like replacement or operational profile of existing store room. It is a large warehouse, over 3 x bigger, a different material use, bringing traffic, hard surfacing, high security fences, and loss of biodiversity into the heart of our historic park.
The public were never asked if this proposal was 'welcomed' we were only asked if you 'like how it looks' pushing the plans forward as a 'done deal'. Bulldozers flattened the established foxes den during breading season with the same lack of regard!
There is no statutory requirement for Bromley Council to build this new £4 million archive warehouse — and certainly not in Priory Gardens.
The only legal duty the Council has is to keep its records safe.
It does not have to build a new building. It does not have to build it here. This location is a choice, not a legal necessity.
Here are just a few reasons to object:
“We save money by using this land” is NOT a valid planning reason.
Financial convenience cannot override:
Open space protections
Biodiversity duties
Heritage safeguards
Policy 55 (Urban Open Space)
Park character and public amenity
Land Register shows the location IS IN PRIORY GARDENS accessible only by ORPINGTON HIGH STREET.
Objections must be submitted via the Council planning portal. It takes 2 minutes.
