Dear Petition Members,

It's August and we are doing all we can to create positive planning for the future in Priory Gardens.  We made the cover of Conservative News summer edition at least it offers awareness.

We are applying to Bromley Council for The Depot Priory Gardens Orpington to be made an Asset Of The Community.    We need to add to our claim names and addresses of our Protect Priory Gardens petition members who appear on the electoral register within Bromley Council authority with our application.

Can anyone who is on the Bromley electoral register, that is happy to be included, please email me with your name and full address.

If you can pop that over asap:  My email is carolinejeffrey64@gmail.com

This will only be used for the purpose of confirming a 'group' of Bromley residents support our Petition and Application of the Community Asset for Priory Gardens, Depot.

Asset Of The Community, What This Means

The Community Right to Bid is part of the Localism Act 2011 and came into force on

21 September 2012.

The provisions give local groups a right to nominate a building or other land for listing

by the local authority as an asset of community value. When a listed asset is to be

sold, local community groups will be given a total of 6 months to put together a bid to

buy it.

Once an asset is listed the owner cannot dispose of it without letting the authority

know. Community groups will then be given 6 weeks to decide if they want to make a

bid. If they do, then there will be a 6 month moratorium period during which the owner

cannot sell the asset. It is important to note that the owner does not have to sell the

asset to the community group.
