Dear friends First a huge thanks to all that donated for us to get a stand at the MarAlgarve Expo in October 2014. So far we have raised 340 Euros we are still short 260 Euros. We have booked 18m2 of MarAlgarve Expo space. Why? We will be using half of THE SPACE for the campaign against the oil and the other half to promote next year’s SUP festival. We will be using the run-up to the festival and the festival itself as a platform to gain more signatures; inform people of the risks that oil and gas exploration will bring and finally show the world during and after the festival our beautiful coastline and the ocean ecosystems that we are at a risk of loosing if the oil and gas exploration goes ahead. Don’t you think that it’s a very nice way to share our concerns? And gain international and local support? The one program fits into the other. Concurrently the festival will assist the tourism sector to be more sustainable; it will bring more awareness of the risks against it from oil exploration to its stakeholders, it will bring community cohesiveness. We are also hoping that it will finally give “tourism stakeholders” an opportunity to truly raise their voices to oppose proposed oil and gas exploration more effectively. It has been an uphill battle until now. But we are still here fighting. We thank you for being on this journey with us. Keep on sharing the petition, collecting signatures and spreading the word. Too many people STILL DOES NOT KNOW about the oil and gas risk for the Algarve.
