Given that we rely on our directors to represent our best interests we are consulting with our legal team about holding the directors of the "YES" boards accountable for voting for this mandate without conducting proper due diligence on their members behalf. Especially boards who voted unanimously in favour of this mandatory program. When each of the board associations is strongly represented on this petition (TRREB has more than 10% of their memebership supporting the SAY NOT TO MANDATORY ORWP petition) it suggests that they were not properly represented at the vote.
OREA sent details of the plan (that had never before been conveyed) to each board association late on the afternoon of June 16, 2023; their expectation was that each board would be able to conduct their due diligence and gauge their members sentiment in ONE business day. This expectation was beyond agregious and left board directors in the position of making a wreckless and negligent decision. However, we understand that no questions were raised and no reprieve from the vote sought on June 20, 2023 that would suggest that the voting assembly were interested in truly representing their members at the vote, and instead their votes represented their directors' wishes. We believe they should be held accountable, along with OREA who intentionally withheld the true nature of this program.
