Say NO to lido in Bristol that will destroy a valuable green space!

We, the undersigned, oppose the proposal to build a lido on the Old Bowling Green, Eastville Park, for the reasons below.

• Release of massive amounts of stored carbon
• Loss of a valuable green space
• Negative impact on Nature
• Loss of space for local community events and activities
• Insufficient parking provision
• Disruptive impact on the local neighbourhood

The proposed construction works would result in a massive release of stored carbon from the ground, thus contributing to greenhouse gases.

The space is surrounded by wildlife-supporting hedgerows and the proposal would have a devastating impact on local wildlife. The Old Bowling Green has been used for many local community events and activities that have achieved a sensitive balance between the needs of humans and Nature.

There is only a limited capacity for visitor parking and any further influx would have a disruptive and negative impact on the immediate neighbourhood, especially the cul-de-sac that leads to the car park. Nearby residents, who would be most impacted and oppose the scheme, have not been consulted in any way by those putting forward the proposal.

This valuable space has the scope to be further improved for habitat (wildflowers/trees/pond etc) and it is important to fight for every square inch of green space, while development of green belt land is taking place all around the city's edges.
