Thank you to everyone for your support. in addition to this online petition, our neighbor Carole gathered over 100 signatures on paper. Our efforts seem to have led to a potential/tentative victory—Pleasants has informed us earlier this month that they plan to work with Frederick Primary Care Associates (FCPA) to build their medical building in the Marketplace commercial area instead of the 1150 Potomac View Parkway site (next to the pool and community center). Pleasants said that they intend to build age-restricted housing/villas at that site instead. From my understanding, they just need the city to approve this plan. The city Planning Commission meeting is tonight at 6 PM at City Hall. It’s crucial that we attend and show our support for Pleasants’ current plan to put in villas instead of FCPA’s medical facility on 1150 Potomac View Parkway.

Here’s an excerpt of the original note from Dan F. of Pleasants that was sent to our residents in August:

“…In regard to the medical office, we are exploring the option to move the facility to the commercial area as the residents have requested and backfill this pad will more Villas. We are not sure how the City planning commission will react (as they previously express [sic] disinterest it this idea) but I think if we can get enough resident support they will hopefully approve the move and Villa option.  Any help you can provide would be helpful.

“We need everyone to start emailing City Council supporting this plan and requesting that this residential plot of land remains residential. Emails to Nathan Brown and city hall get forwarded to planning commission members. Here are those emails:
