Support the next victory today!
Take a moment to celebrate how far we have come! 40 countries worldwide now push back against deep-sea mining.
Recently, two more countries, Antigua & Barbuda and Romania, joined the global call for a moratorium on deep-sea mining, now totalling 40!
These victories are made possible by a growing movement of people - like you and me, businesses, and scientists, speaking out for our shared ocean. The deep sea makes up most of the habitable space on earth. Destroying it for profit is just not an option.
So what happened? Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its commitment to the precautionary principle, pausing seabed exploitation until independent science shows it poses no threat to marine ecosystems.
At the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua & Barbuda stated:
“No one should mortgage the ocean floor to pay short-term bills.”
🌊 Until science can show that deep-sea mining will not cause irreversible damage, the world must protect the deep.
We must keep the momentum going. We can't stop until the deep sea is protected!
