Do you run a business, association, museum, cultural center, institution, school, aquarium, grassroots group, or local community? If yes, then WE NEED YOU! Stand with us: Say NO to Deep-Sea Mining!
The deep ocean—mysterious, magnificent, and teeming with life—makes up 90% of our planet’s habitable space. It regulates our climate, supports food production, and holds untold wonders yet to be discovered.
But this fragile realm is under urgent and escalating threat.
The Metals Company is pushing for the Trump administration to bypass international law and fast-track deep-sea mining in the Pacific Ocean—without waiting for global regulations. This reckless rush threatens to destroy deep-sea ecosystems before we even understand them, undermining international cooperation and triggering a race to exploit the seabed for profit.
The deep sea is not a commodity. It is a critical carbon sink, a home to countless undiscovered species, and a key part of Earth’s life support system.
If allowed to proceed, deep-sea mining would cause irreversible damage to fragile ocean life, disrupt the systems that sustain us, and risk releasing stored carbon—with consequences that could echo across the globe.
We say: Not on our watch.
📽️ Watch the video to learn why we must act now.
Thanks to global resistance, 32 countries, over 50 corporations (including Apple, BMW, Philips and Volvo), and over 35 financial institutions now support a moratorium on deep-sea mining.
Join The Ocean and Us and a growing global movement calling on world leaders to secure a moratorium on deep-sea mining by endorsing the #DeepSeaMiningDeclaration today. We will deliver the Declaration at the United Nations Ocean Conference this coming June in Nice.
2025 is a turning point. World leaders will soon decide the fate of the deep seabed. This is our moment to act—and stop deep-sea mining before it begins.
Whether you're a business, association, museum, cultural center, institution, grassroots group, or local community—your voice matters.
Communities across all sectors of society must speak out before it is too late. Together, we can make clear that “Deep-sea mining is not wanted or needed.”
