WIN! Portugal says NO deep-sea mining in their waters
Thanks to YOU, the ocean-loving community has done it again.
Portugal's parliament has approved a proposal to sign into law a 25 year moratorium on deep-sea mining in their national waters!
This news could not be more timely. Amid some pretty desperate headlines around the world, Portugal's decision offers us HOPE.
This decision sets a precedent for other nations to create laws rejecting deep-sea mining, and all of this puts pressure on the international community to reject deep-sea mining on the High Seas. If it isn't good for national waters then it most certainly should not be happening in our global commons where effective control and enforcement is impossible.
