Life thought to be found in the subseafloor of the deep ocean!!! Wow.

As governments currently meet in Columbia for COP16 to discuss the unprecedented decline of biodiversity, scientists discover a whole new realm of living beings. 

Deep-sea discoveries are just incredible and make us realise the paucity of knowledge and understanding of our own living world. 

Earlier this year scientists discovered that the very nodules the miners want to rip off the seafloor produce oxygen.

A few weeks ago another study revealed that magnetotactic microbes in the deep-sea (microbes containing little magnets that act like compass needles) could be fostering the growth of these nodules.

From producing oxygen to providing essential habitat, it is clear we can't destroy these undiscovered worlds before knowing what they mean for life on earth.

To world leaders: We have already lost over two thirds of global wildlife. A simple action you can take to halt the loss of our natural world is to secure a moratorium on deep-sea mining. 

Time to abandon the absurd idea that trashing the deep sea for minerals is somehow good for the planet. 

Life everywhere has a right to thrive!
