On Monday, March 16th, Joliet City Council was scheduled to vote yes or no on the proposed data center.

Constituents showed up and packed the building. Over 65 people signed up for public comment, mostly in opposition. Even more people wanted to speak but didn’t get the chance to sign up. And the council *tried* to stop them (I was one of them). After pushback from citizens, more people were allowed to line up for public comment. We ran the clock until MIDNIGHT.

Due to this, Joliet City Council was forced to take a recess in compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act provisions which prohibit Election Day meetings.

On Thursday, March 19th at 5:30 PM, at 150 W. Jefferson St, Joliet City Council will reconvene to vote on the proposed data center.

I URGE you to show your opposition by showing up to the meeting tomorrow or by emailing and calling your council person. All council members emails/phone numbers are posted below. We MUST fight for our city.

I also want to say:

No matter what Joliet City Council decides on Thursday, I am SO very proud of everyone who has spoken up, spread awareness, shared and signed the petition, shown up to meetings, and helped organize. You are amazing for standing up for our community.

But keep in mind, this fight is NOT over by any means. And if Joliet City Council votes yes tomorrow and chooses corporate interests and money, over the very people they are supposed to represent? The Joliet community WILL take the necessary steps to keep fighting. We WILL use every tool at our disposal. And WE WILL TAKE OUR CITY BACK!❤️
