Big news on the Wollert Incinerator – and it’s not good. I have three urgent updates for you:

1. Cleanaway doubles the Wollert Incinerator capacity
Cleanaway and Recycling Victoria announced they will double the size of the Wollert Incinerator – one of several incinerators now increasing capacity. If just 2% of toxins, heavy metals, and PFAS escape the filters (which are never 100% effective), that means 456,000 tonnes of toxins could silently pollute our air, water, and soil over 30 years. That’s not a “low risk” – that’s a serious threat to our health, wellbeing and the environment. Read Cleanaway’s announcement here: Cleanaway Announcement

2. Wrong email address on Engage Victoria
For the entire consultation period, the wrong email address for the Planning Minister has been displayed on the Engage Victoria website. This means emails may not have been received since February last year. If you previously sent a submission, please make it a priority to resend it to: development.approvals@transport.vic.edu.au before the 30th August.

3. Submissions are STILL OPEN
The Engage website says submissions are closed – but this is misleading. Submissions remain open until the EPA makes its decision on 30th August. Please, if you haven’t already, send yours in now.
