The EPA has opened a second round of submissions, giving us another chance to make our voices heard. Let’s tell the EPA loud and clear: Cleanaway is not welcome in Wollert.
We need as many responses as possible to show the EPA that our community is united against this proposal. There is no social licence for an incinerator in Wollert, and together, we can ensure our message is impossible to ignore.
The survey takes just 5 minutes to complete: EPA Submissions Survey
If you have more time, you can also review and comment on Cleanaway's response to the EPA’s request for further information: Cleanaway report 1, Cleanaway Report 2,
Survey closes on 19th November.
You can comment on:
- Air emissions
- Noise emissions
- Stormwater system design and management
- Incoming waste feedstock quality control
- Waste generated (IBA/APCr)
- Facility design
- Human Health risk assessment
- Land and groundwater
Our community has made it clear: we won’t accept any risk to our health, environment, or safety. While Cleanaway claims there is a “low risk,” we demand 'no risk' for our families and future generations.
Did you know that Cleanaway plans to store waste generated (IBA/APCr) (bottom ash) in a three sided facility? This means one side will be completely open, leaving toxic materials exposed to the wind. The question is: where will this hazardous waste end up? The risk of it spreading into our community is real and unacceptable.
We need to stand together and demand better. Say no to Cleanaway’s incinerator and no to unsafe practices in Wollert. Let’s protect our health and environment!
