With the state election just around the corner I thought you might be interested in the candidates views on the proposed new quarry:

There are 5 candidates that have nominated for the forthcoming state election. Listed below are their views on the proposed new quarry for Arthurs Seat.

Simon Mulvaney (Independent) - I will endorse your proposal and will try to put a stop to the new quarry .

Rodger Gully (Independent)- Has not responded.

Chris Brayne (Labor)- “I am absolutely against this proposal.  I would certainly do everything I can to work against this project as the MP no matter which political party is in government, and I'll work to see no further mining is done in and around our part of the Mornington Peninsula.”

Russell Joseph (Liberal)- Russell is supportive of the Environmental Effect Statement that is to be completed by Hillview and was confident the right decision would be made. He declined to make an opinion on the proposed quarry.

Paul Saunders (Greens)-“I, Paul Saunders the candidate for Nepean fully support the community opposition to this proposed quarry.  This quarry is not needed, the increased traffic will be detrimental to the local community and the devastation of high value vegetation and habitat that will result is not acceptable. I call on Richard Wynne, the Planning Minister and the Victorian Labour Government to reject this application. Furthermore I call on both major parties to state their policy position on this quarry should they form the next Victorian government.  The Greens will support the Mornington Peninsula community to fight against this proposal.”
