I want to say thank you again to everyone who took the time to sign this petition. Over 100 people have took the time to express their desire to save the wildflowers on the South Main Right of Way, and while that might seem small, it is not insignificant. Thank you for contributing.
I have not wanted to inundate anybody with constant updates, and honestly, there haven't really been any updates. I had some replies from some city officials saying they would look into it, and that's about it. They haven't mowed again, so the life cycle has resumed for the time being.
One thing the wildflowers have taught me is that you have to sit and be confident in the growth and wait. Let nature take its course.
Although I don't know if the lawn mowers will return, it is nice to see South Main quietly growing. Some flowers have sprouted up.
Last week, I drove up north to High Springs and was in awe of the beautiful colors just growing there, on the sides the roads. They were magnificent shades of pinks and yellows and purples. The occasional flash of red was simply thrilling. I felt extremely grateful I was able to see them first hand.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, or stressed out with everything going on, I hope you are able to find a nice patch of wildflowers to enjoy, even if for just moments at a time as you are on your way.
