Saving Skye ridgeline from development (Adelaide, South Australia)
The issue
NEWS! 1st May 2026. Thank you to everyone who signed our petition asking for protection for the precious Skye HFZ skyline that BORAL industries is trying to sell. After two months of attempting to sell this property, it is still not sold and we need your help.
Please could you urgently email the South Australian state minister for the environment, the Hon Emily Bourke, requesting that she contacts Boral industries, and with State and Council authorities acts to preserve this precious Hills Face property that is under threat. The loss of more native grassland where the endangered cryptic sun moth breeds would be a terrible blow and shame on our authorities failure to act. It is precious open space backing onto the Anzac Lookout and has been enjoyed by so many walkers and sightseers over decades
Minister.Bourke@sa.gov.au
We request the South Australian State Government take immediate action to purchase, or otherwise permanently protect 20 McBeath Drive, Skye 5072 from development. Owned by Boral Limited it is in the process of being sold.
Located east of the Anzac Lookout, Kensington road. This 7.9 acres of grassland (only 1% of our grassland remains) and eucalpyt forrest is currently enjoyed by thousands of walkers, sightseeers and cyclists. It makes a significant contribution to the scenic character, environmental integrity and community identity of the Adelaide Hills and Mount Lofty Ranges.
It is an environmentally and culturally significant location, providing a breeding habitat for the endangered Cryptic Sun Moth and many other native animals.
Protecting this biodiverse land and creating it as a public park would safeguard its environmental and landscape values for future generations.
Help support stopping this development and protect one of 8 remaining natural skylines over Adelaide - sign and share.
Time is vital - we have until mid April 2026 before this land could potentially become permanently destroyed by residential development.
