Gracious News, But the Push Continues for Wetland Protection

Hello All supporters, today's update is to highlight that there has been a report from a friend of the landowner who had filled portions of the wetland in question. The individual indicated that Grace the turtle has been seen near the haliburton high school and is hopefully safe as we didn’t get the chance to verify the sighting! We will still be watching out for Grace through our charity’s volunteers, workers and other locals to verify that grace is alive and well! 

Although this is some good news the township has still been dragging their feet on putting in the necessary provisions (found everywhere else in the province) to protect areas of natural heritage and ecological importance from development and we continue to see developments around the township filling in what are supposed to be protected wetlands and destroying important wildlife habitat. We must continue to push for Dysart Et Al to enact these provisions to protect areas zoned as protected and significant to our natural heritage!
