Our petition has reached over 100,000 people and yet we have waited, and waited for 4 months, watching 4 municipal meetings, and seeing deflection to deflection!
We are told now that the County will take the lead and pass a comprehensive site alteration bylaw that will cover off the townships. The provisions to protect Environmental Protection Zones (where Grace hibernates) are found in bylaws in all other areas of Ontario, but not here).
We have our doubts. Is this another waiting game? Is this one more ruse and red herring?
County Council meets on a Tuesday each month. The next meeting is on April 27th.
We are asking you to start the Tuesday Turtle Telephone Chain in the name of Grace- and to call both the township and the County every Tuesday until this standard law is passed in greater Haliburton County (705-286-1333) and Dysart et al (705-457-1740, x 631) to protect Grace, all turtles, and their habitats.
