Right then folks,
Since we broke the 1K in signatures. I did what I intended and email bombed the big wigs at Greene King as well as using their generic complaint form found via their website.
It's been a good few days since, but finally I've had a reply.......
Craig
Your recent e mail was forwarded onto me as the Business Unit Director for our Urban pubs which the Black Bull sits within
The Black Bull is set to close at the end of March due to the lease expiring at the end of the month. The pub shares a lease with the underground nightclub the Bunker, which closed in August 2023. The reason for the Bunkers closure was it was not viable. We’re unable to split the lease so we had no choice to exit the building completely.
Alternative options have been explored to avoid closure, but these have not been viable, so as I mentioned the decision has been taken not to renew the lease. We have 15 other pubs in Edinburgh where customers will be guided. These are some of the city’s most historic business. All our Team are being redeployed across these pubs so there will be no losses. We appreciate your continued support and loyalty as a valued customer. We look forward to welcoming you to our other pubs in the area soon.
If you should have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

So there we go folks, basically a big fob off and go find somewhere else.....poor show from GK.
I'm going to retaliate and suggest that they use the bunker as a music venue in conjunction with the Bull. It's ground level making loading a non issue....but please feel free to use Alex's email on my behalf or email me at
craig.smith.86@hotmail.co.uk with the heading #savetheblackbull so it doesn't get lost in the ether.
Cheers again
