Please write to your MP - WriteToThem.com will help you. This campaign isn’t really about getting a lot of signatures on a petition. It is about getting a more acceptable train timetable from May (and in the longer term). And to do that, we need to influence the Government. The main way most of us can do that is to write to our MPs, asking the MP to talk to the ministers in the Department for Transport about what is wrong with the timetable (we need to explain to our MPs what we see as the most important thing wrong with it). It would really help to know which MPs are being written to, and which are raising the issue with the ministers. I know about Alistair Burt and Mohammad Yasin; today I heard Andrew Selous will, too. But who else? Please let me know who else when you ‘WriteToThem.com’, and what reply you get. There are other key ways you can help – writing to your local paper, for example. Two big changes on the national scene that are relevant – 1) there has been a change of rail minister: perhaps this gives a chance for some fresh eyes to look at the situation. 2) the collapse of Carillion – who were a major partner in the work on the route up to Corby: perhaps a delay will trigger a re-think. Both ways round, we can hope. As for us, we are doing more than just hoping. Thousands of leaflets have been handed out to commuters: mainly at Bedford station, but also on trains and at some Thameslink stations.
