Save Yogi bear at Golden Ears Provincial Park

The Issue

Email and phone the park!  https://bcparks.ca/golden-ears-park/

Urgent action is needed to save Yogi bear at Golden Ears Provincial Park in British Columbia, Canada. This bear, doing what comes naturally, stole a picnic, and is now facing the grave possibility of being shot.  He is actually being hunted down right now!  Black bears are inherent to the ecology of this region and have inhabited the park for centuries. They should not be punished with death for following their instinctual behaviors, especially when human negligence is at play.

The park is a sanctuary for wildlife, including black bears, and it is imperative that we protect them rather than punish them for human mistakes. Leaving food unattended in picnic areas is a known hazard and is discouraged by park authorities to prevent wildlife from becoming accustomed to human food. This situation arose because individuals left their food out in bear territory, yet now the bear is the one facing deadly consequences.

Instead of resorting to lethal measures, the park authorities should enact fines and penalties against those who neglect to secure their food. Educational programs can be implemented to ensure visitors are aware of the importance of keeping bears wild and uninfluenced by human food.

By signing this petition, you are urging the authorities at Golden Ears Provincial Park to reconsider their decision and adopt non-lethal measures such as relocation or deterrents, and to hold the responsible parties accountable. Bears deserve the right to lives undisturbed by human negligence. Your signature, phone calls, and emails can help save this bear's life and ensure a safe coexistence between humans and wildlife in the park. Please lend your support by signing this petition.
