The Issue

WPSU — our community’s trusted PBS and NPR station — is facing devastating budget cuts and the threat of closure.

This is more than just a loss of programming — it’s a loss of trusted journalism, educational resources, and a vital cultural institution that has served our region for decades.

For years, WPSU has provided:

Trusted local news that keeps us informed and connected
PBS Kids programming that gives children a safe, educational start
Educational resources for teachers, students, and lifelong learners
Local storytelling that reflects our community’s history and diversity
If WPSU is silenced, thousands will lose access to free, educational, and public-interest programming that cannot be replaced.

We, the undersigned, call on Penn State leadership and state decision-makers to:

Fully restore WPSU’s funding and stop these cuts
Commit to keeping WPSU open and thriving for years to come
Work with the community to ensure a sustainable future for public media
Public media is a public good — and once it’s gone, we can’t get it back.
