Good evening to all our friends and supporters across the world. I've been a bit quiet for a couple of days, things have been very hectic here in the village: meetings, research, reading, emails and fact finding for our Trustees on the Wold Newton Village Hall Trust. The Trustees will be meeting on Monday night, and we've got lots to decide.

The banners have gone up, and they look great. Lots of people have been emailing the Diocese. There is a video circulating! Made by one of the villagers, here's a link to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypytR6R-Yrs&t=6s Please share it if you can!

Last night, the WI celebrated their 70th birthday here in the Village Hall. So many memories shared of fundraising to get the hall built, of scrubbing the old wooden floors, playing darts, celebrating life events and learning together. After our birthday supper, we were treated to a lecture about the suffragette and suffragist movements, and how they fed into the history of the WI in Britain.

Sitting amidst our members, I was struck by how much campaigning, reform, protest and progress have shaped all of our modern world, and here we still are: signing petitions, making banners, sharing stories, making videos and engaging in dialogue.

Round the world tonight are millions of people denied these options and freedoms. Forced to endure misery, hardship and threats to their very lives. The cause of our village hall pales into insignificance besides their plights, and yet it is only by collective endeavour and action we can learn, we can change, and we can progress. We can best support those in need by organising events, using community spaces and getting together. And yes, that means we all need our village hall.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for signing and sharing the petition. Please continue to do so.
