So, 48 hours later and this is what I know. People are just amazing.
The petition has over 300 signatures already and rising. Our local community are signing it, sharing it, letting their friends know all over the world. The word is spreading, gradually.
We're engaging those people who will make the decision, carefully and considerately outlining our case. Lots of people are also passing letters to others who may be able to help our cause. Others are stepping up with advice, experience and suggestions as to how we can go forward.
Yesterday, while searching for oilcloth to make a banner, I was reduced to tears by the kindness of our new friend Mark and the staff at Hi-Lite Signs in Louth who have given offcuts of oilcloth, correx board and vinyl so we can promote our cause to visitors. The children of the village and tearoom visitors over the weekend will be able to get involved with decorating the banners.
Never underestimate the power of kindness, compassion and community. We're working with people in the Diocese who might be seen as "them" "the opposition" or "the powers that be" with love and respect, recognising that we are all just doing what our fates in life require of us.
Thank you all. Please keep on sharing, signing and supporting this (and other) campaigns!
