Dear Friends of Walker's Cafe,
Prospect Group, who bought Walker's Cafe last year, are giving a presentation to Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council this Wednesday, September 6th, 6:30 pm at the Wigwam Lodge on 543 Shepard Street (parking available at Point Fermin Park). (See here for meeting agenda)
They will be presenting their plans for Walker's and a proposal for a massive, 3000sqf development behind it. Despite their earlier promises, they seem on the fence about reopening the cafe and more interested in adding residential housing.
Now is the time to show up in person and have your voice heard. We need people there -- we need real people from the neighborhood to tell them: this cafe is our community, we need it to reopen. We want Walker's back!
Walker's officially became an LA historic landmark last year because of the overwhelming community love and support for keeping it around. But protecting a historic site is a long process that takes community input every step of the way. That's why we have to keep showing up for Walker's -- it makes a huge difference.
