SAVE VIC PARK BOWL!

SAVE VIC PARK BOWL!
The issue
Vic park bowl is an important part of West Australian action sports. From skateboarding to BMX this bowl has been a vital landmark that has forged itself into the history books of skate culture and deserves to stand for many more years to come. This petition is to stand up for vic park bowl and for it to remain as one of, if not the best bowls in WA and for it to NOT BE KNOCKED DOWN.
Vic Park bowl is the ONLY park listed from WA in the Thrasher - ‘parks you must skate before you die’ and the only BOWL from our state to make the cover of any skate publication, with the exception of the Albany snake run that is now heritage listed.
As skateboarders and action sports enthusiasts we are asking the designers, developers and the town of Victoria Park to keep this iconic bowl, simply build around it! As seen in the design provided below (existing vic park bowl circled in red we are trying to save!)
There is ample space to build another ‘flow’ bowl next to this and allow for a plaza style street section, but to knock this bowl down to just replace it with what some perceive as a modern upgrade is not what the majority want. And this petition is to show that!
We must also mention some of the best skateparks in Australia that have had ‘facelifts’ or upgrades that have kept the historic and original bowls that made them so famous as a reference, please look at these two Australian examples
This is what we would like to see, and if you agree please sign this petition!
To the shire of Victoria Park, we thank you for giving WA this bowl all those years ago, we also thank you for wanting to give more to action sports but understanding our culture and preserving what has made many of us fall in love with skateboarding is AS important.
final note RIP DORFUS. - skateboarding icon, and one of the builders of this bowl. Please click the link to see how much this individual means to skateboarding, and why this bowl is more than just a bowl, it’s a representation of Australian skate culture.
Long live VIC PARK bowl. #standupforvicpark
