It is disappointing, though sadly not surprising, that our local MP, Andrew Cooper, has chosen to back the hospital’s plan to carve up Verdin Park rather than stand with the people of Northwich. Instead of defending our community’s right to green space, he has repeated the Trust’s consultant-driven arguments and brushed aside obvious alternatives such as using underutilised town centre car parks or exploring multi-storey solutions.
This is not representation — it is abdication of responsibility. An MP’s role is to stand up for their constituents, not to justify the erosion of our public spaces.
We will continue to make our voices heard. If elected representatives won’t defend Verdin Park, then it is up to us as a community to do so. Please keep sharing this petition — every signature strengthens our fight to protect the park.
