The Issue

To: Huntingdon County Commissioners; Huntingdon County Planning Commission; Union, Cass, and Todd Township Supervisors; Cassville Borough Council; State Representatives

We, the undersigned, recognize the significant social, cultural, economic, and environmental value of the greater Trough Creek Valley and surrounding areas. We call on elected officials and petition recipients to act immediately to protect our rural communities from the risks of data center development. We urge you to assess potential impacts on land, wetlands, and drinking water; local and regional power grids and roads; recreation and quality of life; public safety and well-being; agricultural use; and wildlands and wildlife, including endangered species. We ask you to reject development that could harm these resources, recognize the valley’s watershed as an environmentally sensitive area vital to the Raystown Lake region, ensure full transparency throughout the decision-making process, and meaningfully engage affected residents and constituents at every appropriate stage.
