Hello Friends of Tiger Mountain,

There is fantastic news to share!

Review of the January 2026 WA DNR Timber Sale list showed the Southpaw timber sale auction had been postponed to 7/2/2029, however review of the March 2026 WA DNR Timber Sale list does not include the Southpaw timber sale at all! This is a huge step in the right direction.

Next Steps:

I will be emailing WA DNR and Commissioner Upthegrove (CPL@dnr.wa.gov) to thank them for cancelling the Southpaw Timber Sale and removing it from the March Timber Sale list. I will also ask when those 96.37 acres of the Tiger Mountain State Forest will receive permanent protection. Though it is unlikely this acreage will be brought back up for sale in the future, it is vital that Southpaw receive permanent protection, since the sale was already brought back up for auction after being cancelled once.

Further Tiger Mountain Action:

There are multiple timber sales impacting both diverse legacy forests and recreation on Tiger Mountain over the next few years-

Paranormal Timber Sale- 67 acres, August 2026

Red Osier Timber Sale- 65 acres, June 2027

Forest Stump Timber Sale- 78 acres, June 2027

London Burl Timber Sale- 113 acres, October 2027

Tiger Balm Timber Sale- 108 acres, August 2028

For additional action, please check out a new petition telling DNR to halt all logging on Tiger Mountain- https://c.org/WqQPSj7r4y

I will post an update if and when I receive an update from WA DNR in regard to Southpaw, thanks to everyone for your support!
