THE REFERENDUM IS MADE TO SOUND LIKE A GOOD THING. HOWEVER IF YOU VOTE YES ON THIS REFERENDUM WE CITIZENS WILL FOOT THE BILL IN THE FORM OF RAISED PROPERTY TAXES. THE ALLORA PROJECT AT 800 8TH AVE PROJECT WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS REFEERENDUM IN TAX CREDITS AND ALLOWING THE PROJECT TO DESTROY THE LAND WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE WITH WE CITIZENS PAYING FOR ALL OF THE IMPACTS OF THE PROJECT VOTE NO. SEE WHAT Former Democratic State Rep. Neil McMullen said about the referendum pictured above
"Present business climate is excellent. The area does not need to exempt businesses from property taxes to incentivize jobs creation.
Future business climate is predicted to remain good. 'Off the books' (not widely understood outside the halls of government) general infrastructure capital improvement demands by incoming businesses or expanding businesses erode any net positive economic gains based only on jobs creation; ie. water, roads, signals, power improvements are generally born by local citizens in THEIR property taxes and are NOT fully offset by more numerous jobs. Increased population from 'new jobs'
and, this, demands on local infrastructure capital improvements/investments such as schools, public facilities, simply create need for even higher property taxes."
