The Israeli Supreme Court has accepted a new appeal made by the Khan Al Ahmar community lawyers, and it extended a temporary ban on the demolition of the village until August 15th. Furthermore, a strike is expected on behalf of the so-called Israeli Civil Administration (Israeli governing body that operates in the West Bank) starting July 15th in the West Bank, which could contribute positively to the village’s future and could enable a more articulated legal action to support the Bedouins residents. Meanwhile, the military continues their work on the field. Bulldozers are paving a road to facilitate the access to the village for the demolition, while in Al Azariya they are continuing to level the land and transfer the caravans to accommodate the 35 families (181 people) of Khan al Ahmar, who are threatened of being forcefully displaced. The village has gained the support of the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. "Italy is glad that the Israeli government has suspended the demolition order against the School of Tyres in the West Bank," said Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi. "It is essential to follow the evolution of the peace process in the Middle East". For the Foreign Minister, "the fundamental principle of the creation of two States is the guiding principle". Minister Moavero Milanesi also explained that he disapproves of Israel’s decision to tear down the School of Tyres, built by the Italian NGO Vento di Terra. Yesterday, hundreds of Bedouins from all over Palestine gathered in the village to support the community. The Palestinian National Authority also declared that the school year at the School of Tyres -- quickly becoming a symbol of this resistance -- will start earlier, on July 15th, to discourage its destruction. Our efforts are working! It is more important than ever to keep the pressure on. You can share this petition to invite others to join the movement: united we are stronger!
