Another nuclear threat to our Ocean in Cumbria - this time its Japanese nuclear waste

Dear Friends

Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition to stop invasive seismic ocean blasting to test West Cumbria's geology for a nuclear dump.  We managed to halt some of those seismic blasting works in the Solway Firth but the plan continues and we are waiting to see where they plan even more invasive deep borehole tests.    In the meantime I hope you don't mind me writing to you with yet another nuclear waste scandal to hit Cumbria.  The local council (Cumberland) have partnered with the Japanese Atomic Energy Agency and plan to bring waste from Japan's failed fast breeder nuclear plant called  "Monju"  to Cumbria for "processing".    This is outrageous and puts not only our oceans but Cumbrian schools, towns and villages at risk of volatile sodium coolant used in the fast breeder reactors.   Please consider signing the petition which we will pass on to the Japanese Atomic Energy Agency and Cumberland Councillors to say NO to the import of Japan's nuclear waste to Cumbria.   We already have 22 tonnes of plutonium from Japan at Sellafield in Cumbria - we don't want the sodium coolant imported to the Port of Workington too..

Many Thanks!

Marianne
