Dear fellow Save Karori Campus supporters, Ako Pai Marae on the Karori VUW Campus is being formally closed at 10am on Friday 12 August with the Kaupapa and Mauri of the marae, leaving Karori for the last time and being transferred to Te Hereanga Waka Marae on their Kelburn Campus. On behalf of the Karori Community I would ask that you consider attending this ceremony and do not let the marae slip away unnoticed. Our community, and education in New Zealand, have a lot to thank Ako Pai Marae for. Tikanga Māori's very presence in the New Zealand curriculum can attribute much of its success to this marae and the many who passed through it on their pedagogical journey. We have been grateful to be one of the few suburbs in Wellington that has a marae, a neutral spiritual space for community to come together. We believe there is still a strong future for a marae in Karori. The campaign continues to fight to keep vital community resources like the campus in Karori, and ask that you stand with us.
