The Vaquita (Phocoena Sinus) is a small porpoise species that is on the brink of extinction. It's estimated that fewer than 10 individuals remain in their natural habitat in Mexico's Gulf of California (source: World Wildlife Fund). This drastic decline in population has been caused by illegal fishing practices and habitat destruction.
