Save the Texas Coastal Bend - Oust Sean Strawbridge as Corpus Christi Port CEO Now!
The Issue
Mr. Sean Strawbridge has not performed his duties as POCCA Executive Director in a professional manner that considers the interests of the regional area POCCA activities impact, to wit:
- He refuses to acknowledge the negative impact that the industrialization he’s proposed will have on the environment, as well as the huge tourism and fishery industries in the area
- He has attempted to skirt public notice rules and regulations and not dealt in good faith with area citizens
- He has engaged in a petty tit-for-tat battle with local government agencies, including voiding the Port Aransas marina lease after a development moratorium was declared by City Government officials; blatantly avoided being served a court subpoena by having his assistant tell the process server he was “too busy” to respond; and opposed without good cause an Army Corps of Engineers permit renewal request that had been in place for 25 years prior to his appointment
- He has a singular focus for the POCCA to expand in the always-turbulent petrochemical industry, subjecting the local economy to the whims of the world oil market
- In February 2021, as Texas struggled with record cold temperatures and statewide power outages, was Sean around to lead the POCCA through this crisis? Apparently not, as reports say he was seen in Tulum, Mexico during this time with his alleged mistress.
- While on the topic of leadership and character, public records indicate Mr. Strawbridge has been involved in foreclosure proceedings on two of his private residences. That's not the kind of integrity one would expect of someone who is in charge of the largest port in the United States in total revenue tonnage.
We can do better things with the POCCA than Mr. Strawbridge has to date, and we thus hereby call for Ms. Barbara Canales, Nueces County Judge, and Mr. Charles Zahn, POCCA Chairman, to remove Mr. Strawbridge from his position now! He needs to be replaced with someone who can grow the Port into a diversified economic engine for the area without impacting the tourism, fisheries, and environment that the region, and indeed visitors from all around the world, enjoy.
