CD10 has started preparing to make city parking lot 625 a gentrifying festival space, closing the access to the surrounding businesses, their customers, and Leimert Park visitors on WEEKENDS.
Weekends are the busiest days in the Village, and we already have parking shortages as it is, with parking 626 closed to the public.
Several local businesses have said that if this happens, they will have to break the lease and move, and others can not afford to do so and will go out of business.

Leimert Park public spaces are being systematically reduced. The City of Los Angeles installed a fence around the Park. They closed half of parking 626 behind the Vision Theater and used it as a construction site. The other half of Parking lot 626 is fenced out because of “security issues .” Now we are facing 8-10 months of street closures for street and sidewalk repairs. The city of Los Angeles is strangling Leimert Park. Small black-owned businesses and long-time legacy businesses are at risk of extinction!!.

1. YOU WILL BE ON HOLD FOR 3 MINUTES AND THE CALL WILL DROP.
2. CALL AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AND KEEP CALLING UNTIL YOU HEAR THE MEETING START.

5. LET THEM KNOW YOU OPPOSE TO ANYONE HOSTING EVENTS ON PARKING LOT 625, MAKING IT UNAVAILABLE FOR PARKING ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. THIS PARKING IS VITAL FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS IN LEIMERT PARK. IF THEY MOVE FORWARD WITH THE CLOSURE OF THIS PARKING, IT WILL DEVASTATE THOSE BUSINESSES.
