Some great news regarding The Saracens Head: the council have decided to re-list it as an Asset of Community Value!

This means it is formally recognised as being used to ‘further the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community’, and its continued use as a pub has additional protection. For instance, there are now very strong grounds for rejecting any Change of Use planning applications. 

It also means that if the owner decides to sell, the community has six months to put together an offer to buy it – which is often how community pubs come about.

A community pub, eh? Wouldn’t that be great!
