MORE VOTES NEEDED TO ENABLE APPROACH TO WELSH ASSEMBLY.
My last update was on the 28th May 2024 where I asked you to approach your MP's and AM's in the face of the looming election to drive home our desire for control over avian predation, I do hope that you responded to this. Without continued pressure our case for action will fall by the wayside, and the knock on effect throughout England, Scotland and Ireland will also fall by the wayside, keep at them.
This update 16th July 2024, shows that we are at 6171 votes presently and need 10,000 before we can approach the Welsh Assembly to have the 'Fisheries' matters put on their agenda for discussion and hopefully directions to 'Natural Resources Wales', who by the way appear to be a law unto themselves, and if rumours and news reports are correct, in dire straights also.
All the facts of the argument are on the 'Petition' and various updates, detailing what in effect is wrong. Fergal Sharkey is doing a great job on the Pollution side.
We are most grateful to Lord Carlile CBE KC for his efforts and I know he is in discussion with Professor Brian Revell, who disagrees with the figures portrayed by Natural Resources Wales. It is hoped that these discussions will lead to another approach to N.R.W.
The questions posed by Lord Carlile to N.R.W in his letter, reported in a previous update, triggered a 'teams meeting' with Ben Wilson N.R.W. who in writing promised a written response. 'IT IS STILL AWAITED' .
A reminder for you.
1) Is it NRW’s intention effectively to end rod fishing in Wales?
2) What steps are being taken to ensure that the Welsh ecology includes the retention of significant numbers of salmonids?
3) What has been the effect on rivers, streams and lakes in Wales of the increased predation by birds on fresh water fish in Wales?
4) What steps can be taken to ensure a proper level of consultation (including meetings with interested groups) to produce a fair balance between salmonids and predators?
So I appeal to all of you 6,171 who have voted already to approach one other angler for support and a VOTE to carry us over the required numbers for action on behalf of 'Saving our Salmonid Species'.
Try sharing the link to the 'Petition' with your angling friends in your saved address book.
I was asked by a local Angler in North Wales yesterday in a message. 'Where are the Seatrout this year?', my reply ' The immature fish in our rivers for a number of years have been decimated by 'Cormorants and Goosanders' less to go to sea, less to come back', allowed to continue by the Powers in being will lead to extinction.
NOW, PLEASE!!!!! GET MORE ANGLERS INVOLVED, AND VOTING.
This weeks picture is of a Cormorant having been on a feed!
Thank you for the support
