Good afternoon, Fellow Students & Alumni, First, as an update since the last communication, charges brought against several RPI students have rightfully been dropped, and the NYCLU has issued an indictment of the Jackson Administration's use of 'non-existent policies' in their reports. Today, the team at the new Renew Rensselaer organization ask you to sign up at their website, www.renewrensselaer.org, for what will become the new home of updates relating to this continued issue of our Union. Read more below. --------------------------------------------------------------- Friends, both current students and fellow Alumni, the situation in recent years has become dire at RPI. It is widely understood that this situation is the result of a long period of mismanagement on the part of the current administration. These recent events are just the latest in a string of grievances, including the mishandling of our school’s finances, a toxic environment on campus experienced by students and faculty alike, all culminating in the recent unwarranted and popularly rejected takeover of the RPI Union. This deteriorating situation is the reason that Renew Rensselaer, an Alumni organization dedicated to resolving the present issues at RPI, has been formed and has launched its Platform for positive change. They have released the following statement: "Since representatives of Renew Rensselaer have not been able to influence a high-level, determined examination by the Trustees of the issues we think are critically important for RPI’s future, we have concluded that the facts we uncovered are worth presenting to the RPI Community at large. All together as committed Alumni we can present a united front to the Trustees and Administration. If you agree that the facts we present are distressing and that proactive actions by the Trustees are essential to secure a better future for RPI we encourage you to do the following: • Sign up for future updates and remain engaged and informed about Rensselaer. • Add your name in support of our Platform. • Read “The Untold Story” –A fact-based report based on nearly two years of research into issues related to Financial, Academic, Governance and Leadership problems at RPI. • Advocate and inform fellow Alumni and stakeholders of the urgent need for renewal at Rensselaer. • Pass along this email and the website address to every Alum you know." Together, we can restore our RPI. Explore & join us at www.RenewRensselaer.org In Solidarity, The Renew Rensselaer Team Should you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us at info@renewrensselaer.org." Please stay tuned for future updates.
