Good morning everyone. We hope that you and your families are managing to stay cool and safe during this most recent heat wave. We will be sending along some links to resources for cooling centers as recognized by the State of Illinois through their initiative: Keep Cool Illinois. Unfortunately, Ogle County does not have any cooling centers recognized by this map; however, please know that our local libraries (Oregon and Byron) are always open for those looking for some respite from these blistering temperatures.

We will also be sharing a digital recording of the meeting. We apologize for the quality but it does provide a great deal of insight, particularly as it relates to board members driving movement on data center policy and possible development. Comments from board members begins roughly at the 12 minute mark for those interested. For the remaining July meeting schedule, here is the rundown:
July 21st at 5:30pm: OCB Meeting (Full, Third Floor, County Board Room); Agenda Pending
July 23rd at 6:00pm: Regional Planning Commission (1st Floor, Room 100); Agenda Pending
July 30th at 6:00pm: Zoning Board of Appeals (Third Floor County Board Room #317); Agenda Pending
(Once again, do not click on the ICS option. The times for meetings are an hour late and you will miss the meeting you intend to attend.)
Another note to keep in mind: should you plan on speaking during public comment, you have three minutes. The goal post is now firmly planted at 180 seconds. Be sure to prepare and time yourself. However, if you wish to petition to appear on the agenda (with the ability to speak more than three minutes), you must go through the Zoning and Administration office:

On a similar note, we have been made aware of some online chatter from board members indicating that you cannot record meetings. This is untrue. Please read the following to understand your rights to record full board meetings and all committee meetings:
From the County Board’s Rules of Order, Page 2, item 15: “All meetings of the County Board and County Board committees shall comply with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.”
From the 104th Illinois General Assembly’s Administrative Code:

"Subject to the provisions of Section 2.05 of the Open Meetings Act, any person may record the proceedings of any open meeting by tape, film or other means. No equipment used for this purpose shall obstruct the view between any Board members or between any member and the speaker's rostrum. If a power source is necessary for the recording of a meeting, the requestor shall notify the Board Secretary of his or her requirements at least 3 business days prior to the meeting, and the Board will make every reasonable effort to assure that a power source is provided, taking into consider that the Board has no meeting facilities and typically meets at guest sites.”
