A public consultation meeting was held on 5th June At pencalenick school regarding the future of pencalenick school
Unfortunately despite this being a public meeting Cornwall council didn't invite any members of the public, it wasn't posted on the website either through the consultation page or cornwall councils website
At the meeting Cornwall council admitted they had made an error in the figures and there are 28 pupils boarding not 'less than 10'. Furthermore, the council admitted it has no plans for what they would do with the money and the plans to close the boarding provision was merely to manage the budget deficit.
The council were also told that in relation to their claims that the residential provision doesn't feature in their child's care plans therefore they are removing the provision, that legally this is questionable due to their previous refusal to write this in the children's plans
As parents, grandparents, concerned members of the public and the special needs community, we call on Cornwall Council to immediately issue a redaction of the false information they broadcast on radio and TV and immediately cancel the proposed plans to close the residential provision at pencalenick school
