Save the Regina Floral Conservatory – Don’t Let This Community Treasure Close!
The Issue
On November 20, the City of Regina released budget recommendations that included a proposal to decommission the Regina Floral Conservatory in June 2026. This beloved space—operated for more than 35 years by the dedicated volunteers of the Regina Garden Associates in partnership with the City—is at risk of disappearing.
We cannot allow this to happen.
The Regina Floral Conservatory is more than an indoor garden. It is a living classroom, a mental-health refuge, and a cultural attraction that welcomes visitors from across the city and beyond.
🌱 23,000 visitors each year enjoy the Conservatory’s changing floral displays, peaceful atmosphere, and free public access
🌱 3,000 Regina school children participate annually in the Conservatory’s hands-on educational programs—experiences that inspire curiosity, environmental awareness, and a lifelong love of nature.
🌱 As one of the few indoor green spaces in the city, the Conservatory provides essential mental-health and wellness benefits, offering a calm, restorative environment year-round.
The Conservatory is run by the Regina Garden Associates - volunteers who donate thousands of hours each year to maintain the gardens, deliver educational programs, host events, and keep this space accessible for everyone. Their work strengthens community connection and saves the City substantial operational costs.
If the City moves forward with decommissioning in 2026, Regina will lose:
❌ A cherished indoor sanctuary
❌ A vital educational resource
❌ A popular tourist and community attraction
❌ A volunteer-driven program that enriches quality of life for thousands
Once it’s gone, we won’t get it back.
We urgently call on Regina City Council to:
➡️ Remove the decommissioning of the Regina Floral Conservatory from the 2026 budget plans, and
➡️ Work with the Regina Garden Associates and community stakeholders to ensure a sustainable future for the Conservatory.
Together, we can make our voices heard.
💚 Let’s Save Our Conservatory—for our children, our community, and the future of Regina.
