Some major updates!

The Presidio Trust has submitted its report to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) outlining its statutory authorities under the Presidio Trust Act, as requested by OMB last month. The report underscores the Trust’s unique status as a federal government corporation, empowered to generate its own revenue through leasing its historic buildings and business operations, rather than relying on annual taxpayer funding. It highlights the Trust’s role in managing the Presidio’s 1,500 acres, its collaboration with the National Park Service, and its responsibility for infrastructure akin to that of a small city—supporting residents, businesses, and millions of visitors annually. The report also details the Trust’s authority to establish regulations, enter contracts, and oversee environmental stewardship, reinforcing its autonomy in managing the Presidio as a financially self-sustaining national park site.

The report makes clear that the Presidio Trust is operating efficiently and effectively—any disruption to this model could jeopardize its success.

We want to thank District 2 Supervisor Stephen Sherrill and the entire San Francisco Board of Supervisors for introducing and unanimously approving a resolution opposing President Trump’s “Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy” executive order and reaffirming San Francisco’s support for the Presidio and the Presidio Trust. This leadership reflects San Francisco's commitment to preserving open spaces, protecting environmental and community interests, and securing the Presidio’s future.

We will continue to advocate for the protection of the Presidio and the Presidio Trust, but we need your help to show that the public values its national parks and opposes actions that could undermine access to the services and amenities the Trust chooses to provide.

That’s why we’re asking you to share this petition with your loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Every signature strengthens our message that the Presidio should remain protected and not be subjected to political attacks.
