Thank you again for your support for the Save the Powder Point Bridge petition.

We are developing mailing list for Save Our Bridge activities through our substack -- it's free -- at saveourbridge.substack.com

The site will send out weekly updates on events and news related to the bridge.

We also have a website at saveourbridge.us

There are two upcoming events that I want everyone to know about.

Duxbury Selectboard Meeting, Monday, October 20 at 6:30 pm

Location: Mural Room, 878 Tremont Street and via Zoom

Members of Save Our Bridge are going to this meeting ask for a PAUSE in the Powder Point Bridge Replacement project. We would love it if you would join. We plan to speak at Open Forum, which is at the beginning of the meeting.

We are asking for a pause because the town manager worked in secret for 4.5 years on the replacement project without telling either the Selectboard or town residents. We only found out about the project because a town resident found the project by accident on a Massachusetts Department of Transportation website listing upcoming infrastructure projects.

We want to pause the project so that we have time to consider alternative solutions to the current proposals. We would appreciate support from the public and any input you have to give to the Selectboard.

MassDOT Listening Session on the Powder Point Bridge Replacement Project

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is holding a "listening session" over the Powder Point Bridge on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the cafeteria of Duxbury High School.

They want to divide us up into little groups and then ask us our opinion on what the new bridge should look like. Then several weeks later, they are going to come back with a proposed design for the bridge.

This meeting will not be held like an open meeting. It will not be recorded. Everyone will be separated.

We want to go to the meeting and do the following:

  1. Insist that everyone stay together in one group.
  2. Let MassDOT know that the only bridge we want is a wood bridge
